MEET "ENCOURAGING YOUTH TO DREAM"S TALENTED TEAM!!
QUANTE' JOHNSON (Hip Hop, Jazz Instructor, Co-Artistic Director ) Ms. Q is an accomplished dance choreographer and performer from Baltimore, Maryland. She has over 10 years of dance experience and teaching. She is trained in ballet, jazz, tap, and specializes in modern and hip hop. Quante' has studied liberal arts at Howard Community College in Columbia, Md., where she also taught modern and hip hop classes. Ms. Q also studied dance at Towson University and UMBC where she performed professionally. She has been on the facuity of many prestigious dance studios in the Maryland area teaching from ages 3 to adult. Ms. Q is also excited about her new endeavor, pageant training.
TRACIE MARIE JIGGETTS - (Acting Instructor/ Co-Artistic Director) This captivating dancer, actor, choreographer and director, who believes in the power of individualism and creativity was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland where she began her training at the Baltimore School for the Arts with a host of inspiring instructors, that included Sylvester Campbell and Stephanie Powell. She continued her dance and theatre training at Catonsville Community College, Studio 801, Morton Street Dance Studio, Towson State University and Coppin State University to name a few. Tracie has an extensive performance history, she has grace the stage of countless venues including The Lyric, Arena Players, Center Stage and The National Black Theatre Festival. Ms. Jiggetts is the the Musical Theatre director at Connexions: School for the Arts and director for The Maryland Summer Center Arts program at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center. University of Maryland Division of Social Work, The Archdiocese of Baltimore have all called upon Tracie to facilitate self-esteem through the arts workshops for girls. Ms. Jiggetts directed "Gem of the Ocean" and "Once On This Island" for Connexions and "The Chickens: A Musical" at Calvin Rodwell Elementary School in Maryland. Her style is an energetic mix of theatre and dance, incorporating music and themes from all over the world. Tracie loves to challenge her students and audiences to use the arts as catalyst to bring positive change in their lives and community.
REGGIE LOVE (Musical Director) - Reggie was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated Valedictorian from the Baltimore School of the Arts and he went on to graduate from the prestigious Berkley College of Music. Reggie can easily be described as a producer, solo artist, engineer, composer, educator, and a motivational speaker. His goal is to the plight of the urban community in Baltimore, Maryland. He has toured with Nas, Elle Varner, Stevie Wonder and Trey Songz, just to name a few. He has also performed on shows such as The Wendy Williams Show and The Soul Train Awards. It can easily be said that music has always been on the mind of this scholar! "EYD" is proud to have Reggie Love on our staff as Musical Director.
SHEILA ANTHONY ROSS (Acting & Vocal Coach) - Sheila is a stylist and former lead singer of a Baltimore-based group called "The Royalettes". Sheila recorded on the MGM Warner Brothers and Chancelor record labels and toured extensively throughout the United States with her group. Their hit song "It's Gonna Take A Miracle" put the Royalettes on the chart. She has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry including the Surpremes, Patti Labelle and Smokey Robinson. When the Royalettes disbanded Sheila continued to enhance her musical professionalism under the tutelage of voice acting coach, ET Rocklin. Sheila's diverse audiences have included various performances for the East Coast Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., Wake Forest Diversity Program and several award programs held at the Social Security Administration. She was also featured in a one-woman performance for the Public Broadcasting Systems. (PBS) entitled "This is Sheila Ross". To add to her list of credits, Sheila performed her one-woman show, "An Evening With Sheila Anthony" at the Hilton Hotel in Pikesville, Md. She also toured the country performing on the Playboy Club circuit. Giving back has always been important to Sheila. She has participated in various fundraisers including the telethon for The House of Ruth and sang the National Anthem for the United Fund. She is passionate about helping others. Her musical abilities have enabled her to become a positive influence in the careers of many young adults and family members. Sheila's unique sound is a blend of jazz, gospel, R&B, show tunes and standards. She proudly received the "Woman of the Year in Cultural Arts" award from the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Chapter for her outstanding contribution to the music industry and community. She has also performed at the annual Concert Reception in honor of "The Myrtle Tyler Faithful Fund, Inc., at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore. SHAYLA LOWE - (Acting Instructor) - Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Shayla came to "EYD" Performing Arts Studio like a breath of fresh air! Her talent, patience and enthusiasm was just what was needed. She is not only a singer and actor, but also a phenomenal director. Her skills could clearly be seen in our last performance of "The Wiz". Ms. Lowe studied Vocal Music Performance at Morgan State University under the tutelage of Dr. Nathan Carter. Shayla has performed in various productions in the Tri-State area, such "Ragtime" ,"The Color Purple", "The Wiz", and "Jesus Christ Superstar" just to name a few. Her mantra is "I would rather be loved for who I am, than hated for someone I pretend to be".
